SPECIAL EVENT May 1, 12:15 PM, University Hall
"The Spiritual History of
Central Virginia" with Dr. Mark Beliles
Dr. Beliles, author of six
books, is Senior Minister at Grace Covenant Church and founded of
the Providence Foundation (www.providencefoundation.com).
University Hall was chosen as
the site for this year’s special event in honor of its having been
host in 1998 to the first large-scale evangelical crusade in
Charlottesville in over 112 years.
In fact, it will have been ten
years ago this May 1st when the Billy Graham Evangelical
Association came to University Hall with Franklin Graham as
speaker. About 30,000 people attended the three-day crusade.

| DIRECTIONS TO UHALL
From Barracks Road Shopping Center, drive south on
Barracks Road towards the University of Virginia approximately
1/8-1/2 mile. Stay in the right hand lane.
After a short distance, you
will come to the intersection of Barracks and Massie Road. You will
see an Econo-Lodge on the left. Turn right at that intersection onto
Massie Road.
From here you will see two massive structures to the
right and left of you. On the right is
the newly constructed John Paul Jones Arena. Across the street and
to the left is University Hall, which looks like a standard, domed
coliseum.Use the
parking lot on the right, just beyond John Paul Jones Arena. This
parking is free. Park your car and walk across the street to
University Hall.
Once you have parked and
crossed over to University Hall, enter University Hall through the
North Entrance doors first, then walk straight forward to the first
set of interior double doors you see). Walk inside these interior
double doors and grab a seat on the first set of seats and welcome!
If you have any questions,
please contact Colin Campbell at
colinonething@yahoo.com.
Thank you, and blessings upon you and those you love.

Introduction
Since
2003 the Body of Christ in the larger Central Virginia region has been coming
together by a gracious work of God to seek only Jesus Christ in a nameless,
faceless manner that breaks down walls and pride and is drawing together a
growing number of believers from various denominations and backgrounds for
prayer and worship. The goal is to establish continuous prayer 24/7 and to
mix it with live worship as often as possible.
At the moment, there is at least a prayer meeting open to the
public every evening (except Saturdays) and every lunchtime (except Sundays).
There are often people praying between midnight and morning and other times
throughout the week for a total of about 40 hours a week thus far. But the
goal is to have every hour covered “that the fire may never go out on the
altar”.

The Prayer
Room
A central place for
prayer in downtown Charlottesville (in the Olde Town Center) that is available
to the whole body of Christ. Churches and prayer groups or individuals may
reserve a regular space each week, but priority is always given to those who
welcome anyone to join them (closed private prayer times are available
otherwise). The room has sofas and cds and live-streaming worship and prayer
coming over the internet from the House of Prayer in Kansas City. There is
also a desk and wireless broadband accessibility for people to study in a
prayerful environment. Until there is 24/7 staffing, the center will evaluate
people who wish to use it regularly and then assign them keys.

The Large
Meeting Hall and Cafe
Prayer gatherings that include live
worship leaders and music teams use the larger meeting hall. At the moment
these take place on three evenings: Fridays, Sundays and Mondays. We would
like for Saturdays to be the next evening established with live worship so
that weekends are always covered. We also have a café area that we hope to
eventually have open on the evenings that there is live worship.

|
Prayer and Worship Conferences, Seminars and Rallies
A few special events
and speakers have come now and then to impart a passion for Jesus. For
instance, we had Billy Humphrey and Corey Russell from the Kansas City IHOP.
And we plan to bring in others on a regular basis. Besides here in
Charlottesville, the prayer center will also recommend other local and
regional events along the same lines (For instance, the Awaken the Dawn
conferences in Fredericksburg each February).

Email
Communications and Website
Those who wish to stay informed
about what prayer and worship events are happening or of suggested things to
pray about for our area will receive a regular email notice. This will be especially helpful for intercessors. A website is
also being developed to support this purpose. It will allow prayer requests
to be posted also.

Internship Program
Those
who have interest in serving God for a short-term period in the prayer
movement may wish to become an intern in the prayer center. Internships run
from mid-August to mid-May and require at least 25 hours a week of time
(allowing for part-time jobs elsewhere) and a monthly fee of $100 to be in
the program. Lodging, food and transportation is not provided. For more
information see www.greatcommissioninternship.com

Leadership and Donations
The
Prayer Center is made possible by voluntary gifts of area believers and
churches. Checks should be made out to the Central Virginia Prayer Center and
donations are tax-deductible. Grace Covenant Church is graciously
underwriting most of the costs for the space until more of the Body of Christ
can support it. At the moment the overall direction of the Center is provided
by Pastors Mark Beliles and Jon Quesenberry with the help of interns and
staff: Dan Burt, Sena Woodall and Colin Campbell. More helpers are always
welcome.
