Spiritual Growth
Children’s Ministry Our church highly values our ministry to the next generation. We offer a children’s nursery throughout each service. And once the singing in each service has ended we dismiss the children to classes for various age groups. But also once every six weeks we combine all the classes for a kid’s church service that includes their own worship time. Teens stay in our regular services each week, but then we have special fellowship events for teens almost every week or so. For a more complete description of our children’s ministry and its vision, click here.

Prayer Meetings and Prayer Center We believe that prayer with other believers is essential for the church community. We provide significant leadership and space in our building so that the Body of Christ in the area can meet together in prayer and worship. The Prayer Room is open around the clock every day of the week and public prayer meetings occur at noon and 7pm each day. This prayer includes live worship music on most Sunday, Monday and Friday evenings (and we seek to develop the “harp and bowl” style of the House of Prayer in Kansas City). Both campus and community small discipleship groups also have prayer as a major component. Click here for more on the Prayer Center.

Small Groups Authentic relationships are fundamental to personal growth, and we believe that small groups are the best place for sustained life change to occur. Serious Bible study is also essential to growth. Even more important than Sunday morning services, we believe that individuals will grow the most if they get fellowship and teaching through our small groups. These groups are great for college students or seniors, men or women, to grow together in Christ.Three times a year we announce various groups that meet at various times and places over a 3 month period. People sign up on Sunday morning or online for whatever topic of study or social activity may interest them. Topics and activities are constantly changing. Click here for a list of our current Small Groups.

| Community Growth Groups In addition to small groups that are organized every few months for general teaching and fellowship among all ages and genders together, we also have groups that meet monthly and are led by our pastoral team. These groups are organized by age and gender and are designed for ongoing personal mentoring and spiritual support in a private secure gathering. These are only open to people who are committed to the GCC. Contact: Brian and Sharon Shelton (sharbri at juno dot com) |
Covenant Life Class Twice a year GCC holds a class on two successive Sunday afternoons to teach what the Bible teaches about authentic Christianity and how GCC seeks to apply those teachings and fulfill its mission and vision in the Charlottesville area.

Young Adults Group This group is open to all young adults in their 20s and early 30s, both singles and couples. We meet once a month for fun and fellowship or to discuss a topic of interest to the group (plus we have additional small groups in between). A few times each year the group will have activities for couples only, or for singles only. Our meeting time and place will vary depending upon the activity planned for the month. It’s a great way for building relationships but also for inviting new friends.

Cavalier Christian Fellowship Cavalier Christian Fellowship, our college student group, meets every Thursday night at 8 PM in New Cabell 138 for large-group. We really encourage students to get involved with Christian community during their college years. CCF also offers Bible studies in the dorms on weeknights and special fun fellowship events every few weeks. Plus there are retreats, conferences and short-term missions trips that bring real spiritual growth. Special events are also organized for International Students. Our campus ministers, Michael Lusk, Luke Strohm, and Andrew McDowell work full-time with this group. Student leaders organize much of it as well.
